About The Emblem

It is a workbook done by the Brownie/Tenderheart together with her family. It can also be done by a Brownie troop. It complements and reinforces the sacramental preparation for First Communion and Reconciliation, but should not be used in place of sacramental preparation.

Eligibility

Registered Brownie/Tenderheart (or Junior) Girl Scout or American Heritage Girls of Catholic Faith. The Scout must be between 7-9 years old. The Family of God medal is designed for scouts in grades 1, 2, and 3.

Requirements & Ordering activity book

Each Brownie (or Junior) scout should have her own Workbook Book. You may order directly from the Knoxville Diocesan Catholic Committee on Scouting for $6.95 each including shipping, you may also order the Family of God prayer card for $.50 each, make check payable to KDCCS and mail to the address below or by contacting us at the Diocesan Catholic Committee on Scouting.

Program Completion

Upon completion of the workbook, it is recommended that the group be given the opportunity to review what they have learned with their parish priest or another parish representative. The parent/guardian will need to send the application to the address below.

Award Ceremony

The emblem will be presented to your Girl Scout or American Heritage Girl at a formal ceremony and Mass. This will be coordinated with the parents and the chairman of the Catholic Committee on Scouting in conjunction with the parish priest as to date and time of mass.

If the award is presented as a group the Unit religious emblem coordinator will work with the Catholic Committee and parish to set up the date and time for the presentation.
