About The Emblem:

The purpose of the Parvuli Dei (Children of God) emblem is to help young boys explore a wide range of activities in order to discover the presence of God in their daily lives as members of their families and parishes, and also to develop a good, positive self-image through the contributions they can make to the group or community.

Eligibility

A Registered Bear or Webelo of Catholic faith. Completed second grade.

Purpose:

The purpose of the Parvuli Dei (Children of God) emblem is to help young boys explore a wide range of activities in order to discover the presence of God in their daily lives as members of their families and parishes, and also to develop a good, positive self-image through the contributions they can make to the group or community.

Program Objectives:

– To help the Scout of his age develop an awareness of God’s love for each one of His special, unique created beings.
– To help the Scout become aware and understand his identity as an important member of his family, his community, and as a member of the Family of God.
– To continue to develop awareness as members of the parish and the Body of Christ.
– To aid the Scout in his awareness of the responsibilities that grow out of God’s love for us.

Requirements:

Each Cub/Webelo Scout must have his own Activity Book. The book is designed for the Cub/Webelo Scout and his parent or guardian to work together. The Cub/Webelo Scout will be required to make a banner as part of the requirements. This book can be purchased from DCCS for $6.99 each which includes shipping, send check payable to KDCCS for the number of books required to the below address or by contacting the Catholic Committee on Scouting.

Program Completion:

When the Cub/Webelo Scout completes all steps, he and his presents are to take the book to his parish priest or the priest’s representative. The Cub/Webelo Scout and parent or guardian are to meet with the priest or the priest’s representative to review the book. After the priest or representative signs the book, the parent/guardian will remove and send the application and evaluation forms at the back of the book to the address below with a check payable to KDCCS for $14.50.

Award Ceremony:

The emblem will be presented to your Cub/Webelo Scout at a formal ceremony or Mass. Each scout will be given their emblem by there Parish Priest or Catholic Committee member during the Award ceremony or Mass. Following the Mass or ceremony the Scouts will have an opportunity to have their picture taken to be placed in the ETC.

Scout’s Role:

  • Actively work on the activities with his parents or guardians.
  • Keep the Religious Emblems Coordinator informed of his progress.

Parent’s Role:

  • Actively work on the activities with their son. He may need your help with Bible readings and getting information.

Suggested Time Requirements:

30 – 90 days. The goal of earning a religious emblem is to help the Scout develop a personal relationship with Jesus, so it is suggested that steps be spread over several weeks. This will help the Scout understand that this is a long-term commitment, not a one-time project.
